This paper contains the results of a study on the distribution intramural airborne microbes and antibiotic resistance particularly for staphylococcus.
The author investigated the Flora inhabitated in nasal passage and throat of total 74 healthy medical personnel (38 doctors and 36 nurses) during the three months from August to October 1973.
The following results were obtained.
1. The positive culture rate was 66.2% in 74 medical personnel examined. Out of five kinds of species isolated, alpha-streptococci were predominated showing 35.8%. The others were 28.9% of neisseria catarrhalis, 26.6% staphylococcus.
2. Double strains isolated from throat swab were outnumbered in the case of doctors, while single strain from nasal passage in the case of nurses.
3. In the sensitivity test of staphylococci isolated they were, highly resistant against tetracycline, chloramphenicol and penicillin respectively. However no strains were resistant to streptomycin acid kanamycin
